My approach brings together military leadership, HR expertise, executive coaching, resilience, and neuroscience. That combination allows me to look beyond what a leader says and examine how they show up, respond under pressure, build trust, and create clarity for others.
Everything I teach comes back to four leadership behaviors: Confidence, Clarity, Connection, and Composure. Whether I'm coaching one leader, facilitating a workshop, or speaking from a stage, these four behaviors provide the foundation.
BEYOND THE STAGE
Leadership isn't something I switch on when I'm speaking. It's a practice I continue to work at every day. As an Army Officer, HR leader, coach, speaker, and lifelong student of human behavior, I believe leadership is less about having every answer and more about how we show up for people when the answer isn't obvious.
I had spent years believing leadership was about having the right answers, moving quickly, and getting results. Those things mattered, but they weren't what people remembered most.
They remembered how I communicated. Whether they felt heard. Whether they trusted me. Whether they wanted to follow my leadership.
That realization changed how I led and eventually became the foundation of Gracefully Assertive™ Leadership.
I didn't create Gracefully Assertive™ Leadership because I had leadership completely figured out. I created it because I needed it.
I didn't create Gracefully Assertive™ Leadership because I had leadership completely figured out. I created it because I needed it.
Earlier in my career, I was known for being direct. I knew my work, cared deeply about results, and believed getting to the point made me effective. Then I began receiving feedback that my communication could be experienced as aggressive.
That feedback forced me to examine the gap between intention and impact. I learned that confidence without connection can feel intimidating. Clarity without composure can feel harsh. And good intentions do not automatically create good leadership.
My experiences across military leadership, HR & People Operations, coaching, resilience, and the study of how our brains respond under pressure helped shape a different approach. Those lessons became Gracefully Assertive™ Leadership.
